Traditionally, business travelers entering Vietnam have been able to obtain a three (3) month, Multiple-Entry Business Visa (MEBV) upon their arrival in the country. However, with the recent implementation of the new Immigration Regulations (see our previous Global Brief on the subject), these business travelers will now be required to obtain their MEBV at a Vietnamese Consulate General abroad before they can enter Vietnam.
Companies with business travelers entering Vietnam will need to plan for this new visa application for each business trip to the country. Not only should companies anticipate at least two (2) weeks of visa processing time, but each MEBV application will also require a Vietnamese corporate sponsor and details of the traveler’s planned activities.
Finally, it is important to note that Multiple Entry Visas for tourism purposes only will still be available upon arrival; however, neither business nor work activities are permissible on this visa type.
