Companies who send foreign nationals to the Swiss Canton of Schaffhausen should be aware of discussions currently taking place that could add additional obligations to dependents of their employees.  Spouses of foreign nationals working in Schaffhausen on a local Swiss work contract could soon be obligated to take a German language course as part of an integration program of foreigners in Switzerland.  To date, such language courses have not been mandatory for spouses but this is likely to change in the very near future.  Pro-Link GLOBAL will continue to monitor local discussions and confirm once completion of the language course becomes mandatory.
