Processing times for work permit application in Sweden are now officially running at 12-16 weeks – an enormous extension from the standard four to six weeks. In practice, applications are taking even longer to process – up to five months in some cases.

Processing times have been extended since before the Christmas and New Year period, and undoubtedly the skeleton staff at the immigration authorities over the holidays has contributed to the problem.

Pro-Link GLOBAL is monitoring the situation and will keep our clients updated – in the meantime, we urge you to submit all Swedish applications well in advance and to factor the long processing times into plans for expatriate assignments to Sweden.
