September 29, 2012

As a follow up to our January alert, effective September 20, 2012 new national quotas are now in place for Romanian companies sponsoring non-European Economic Area (non-EEA) foreign national workers.

The new quotas are as follows:

  • 2,300 work permits for local employment (previously 3,000)
  • 1,400 work permits for seconded employees (previously 700)

Work permit numbers continue to decrease for the locally-employed compared to 2011 and to increase for seconded workers.
