The National Immigration Institute (INM) in Mexico is in the process of installing new printers for producing residence permit cards in all of its own offices. Once the printers have been installed and the new printing process has been fully implemented, these new printers will enable the INM to issue residence cards on the same day as the biometric information collection takes place.

Currently the cards are still printed at the National Printing Office in Mexico City, taking approximately 1.5 weeks from date of biometric data collection. An official date for transitioning to locally printed cards has not been published yet and the transition date might in fact differ for the various local offices.
