Indonesia has implemented various changes to its immigration process as of January 1, 2014. Most notable changes are the following:
- Foreign employees and their dependents no longer need to obtain a Domicile Permit (SKTT) if they are living in Jakarta; in regions outside of Jakarta this permit is still required.
- The Police Card (SKLD) is no longer issued to expatriates and their family members.
- Both personal and corporate copies of documents will need to be provided in color going forward.
- Corporate applications for the Expatriate Placement Plan (RPTK), the recommendation by the Manpower Department for individual approval of the employee (TA01) and the Work Permit will need to be submitted online before submitting in hard copy. Each company will need to use one single username and password for this.
- If the company employs more than 4 foreign employees, then a meeting referred to as “Expose” will be scheduled between the company and the officers at the Manpower Department, either in person or over Skype, before the RPTKA can be approved.
- If the employee will be working at more than one location of the company, which are not all in the same province, then additional documents are required regarding the other work locations.
