U.S. citizens present in India are reminded that an appointment and the applicant’s personal appearance are required for most all U.S. Citizen Services provided by the Consulate at the US Embassy in New Delhi and for all U.S. consular posts in India. U.S. citizens requiring any passport services, inclusive of requesting additional visa pages, will require the applicant to apply online for an appointment with the U.S. consular post having jurisdiction over the applicant’s place of current residence in India. In addition to presenting an original U.S. passport, all applicants must bring all documents indicated on the consular website instruction page.

Applicants are reminded that with the exception of issuing 90-day, emergency U.S. passports, most passport services require transmission of the applicant’s passport and/or passport application request to the U.S. State Department. Applicants should be prepared to be without their original passports for at least one to two weeks.
